New Pups
3/7/2021

The Grays are welcoming four new players to the roster, including one former Park National All Star and two current umpires: let’s take a quick look at each pup who is running with the pack this summer.

AJ Nunez

Arthur might be familiar to some Grays fans as he played with the Wolves during the Old Hickory Tournament. In three games played, he batted .571 and drove in five runs. In his career with the Mets in the TCMABL he put up impressive numbers in ten seasons batting .422 with six homeruns, 118 runs batted in and 147 runs scored. AJ brings more pop to an already loaded Grays lineup. He also joining the club in Arizona in October and his years of experience playing in the World Series will be an added benefit.

Billy Diaz

Billy Diaz spent a great majority of his career in the Park National League, pitching for the Minneapolis Lakers, Minneapolis Cobras and Baseball 365. Diaz put up amazing numbers over his time at Parade, including numerous State runs and All Star appearances with the Lakers. Diaz pitched at Hamline University and attended Southwest High School – where he later coached as Assistant Varsity Head Coach. Billy isn’t new to the Federal League as he spent a couple seasons with the St. Anthony Norse putting up solid stat lines. Diaz is expected to be one of the main starters for the Wolves this summer.

Matt Carter

Known as one of the best umpires in the Metro area, but he can also stick and call a game.
Carter joins the Grays after spending thirteen seasons with the TCMABL Giants. In that time the left put up .287, five homeruns, 125 runs drove in and 109 plate crossings. Matt spent a cup of coffee with the Snappers last summer hitting .550 with eleven hits, four doubles and seven runs in eight games played. Matt also led the Minneapolis North Stars to Arizona last fall and his experience and knowledge will be welcome as he also joins the Grays in Arizona this fall.

Garrett Moselle

A former Arizona teammate and fellow umpire with Matt Carter, Garrett will join his buddy on the Grays this summer. Moselle made his debut with the North Stars in Arizona last fall and put up solid numbers while impressing his team with his versatility to play anywhere on the field. Moselle coaches’ girls hockey at Prior Lake as an Assistant Coach and also has been umpiring baseball for the last ten seasons with the Northwest Umpire Association.
